Auditioning for the KJs
Auditions We typically hold auditions twice a year (at the beginning of each semester). Unfortunately, since we are not all able to meet on campus this year, we will not be holding any auditions this year. |
Open House We hold an open house before every auditions cycle. These are a great way to get to know us, check out our repertoire, hear us sign, have some refreshments, and learn more about what it means to get to be a KJ. |

Your audition will be about 10-15 minutes long, and we promise not to bite! Here are the pieces of the audition:
- Scales and some easy warm-ups - our music director will lead you through these
- Pitch matching - our music director will play a few notes and you'll sing them back
- A brief group blending and dynamics exercise
- A few measures of sight reading
- A solo song of your choice! This can be from any genre, from classical to pop to jazz to musical theater. Try to keep your piece to about 30-60 seconds - about the length of a verse and a chorus - and you will sing a capella (without accompaniment).
